7 Tips To Be A Better Parent

This post goes live in collaboration with guest contributor, Kathy Bowman, Co-Founder of Better SleepBaby . Thank you Kathy for your great work.

Being a parent is the easy part, but being a good one is the hard one. Childhood is the learning stage and unless parenting done properly, things may got wrong. You are the parent and it’s your job to ensure to do the parenting properly. And if you are a first time parent or feel to learn a little bit more, here are some parenting tips for you.

Get Him Involved

Your baby should have a feel that she is a great part of the family. You should assign her with some household chores. If he is a toddler, make him at least take care of his nursery bed. That way she will grow a sense of belongness to the family. But while you assign her, make sure the task is appropriate to her age. You should not assign primarily any difficult one that may discourage her in the future.

Social Interaction

Make a routine for your kids playtime. Make sure your baby play with new kids now and them to develop self-esteem. Social interaction with other kids is so important for the toddlers. If there is trouble in social interaction, it can damage the sense of self-esteem and it affects brain functioning too. The best way to achieve this is to get your child admitted to a pre-school.

Instruct Carefully

If you have trouble getting your baby to not do something, it is generally best to specifically instruct them to do something else. For example, if you do not want your little one to run down the stairs, instead of stating ” Hey…don’t run,” it is better to state “please walk down the stairs carefully.” When kids are told not to do something, he/she is more likely to instinctively ignore the instruction. Also, it avoids situations where the child might decide to be clever and jump down the stairs instead.

Calm Yourself

It’s so natural that parents may lose their temper in various situation. If you face such time with your child, you should be extra careful. You need to develop self controlling techniques for such situations. Make sure you don’t say or do anything hurtful to the feelings of your child. Take deep breath, suddenly take a break from the issue or try to think something else.

Work With Him

It’s always recommended to take your baby to work with you one day. By taking your little one to work with you, they’ll get an appreciation of what you do everyday, and they’ll also get to know you a little better. This can be a great way to bond with your child.

Not Everyone Equal

Do not compare your child with his/her friends. Remember, each one of us is unique and so is your baby too. You can find a lot of advice regarding parenting. And may be giving parenting advice is the most easy one. But don’t forget that a single advice that works on other baby may not work on your baby. So, always use your instincts and follow it.

Have Time For You

Have some time for yourself too. Try to enjoy your parenting and don’t forget to have fun for yourself too. And there is no shame to have some time for you while your baby may need you. Remember, if your mind is not calm you can’t have a quality time your child either. Having your own time will help to relieve your stress and avoid parenting trouble.

Teach Early

It is important to start teaching your child early. Make learning fun and play different learning games with them. This can make it easier for your baby to learn in school. While you are playing games with them it also builds their confidence and social skills, which can make it easier for them to make friends.

Discipline In Right Way

Be consistent with teaching discipline to your child. Discipline is something that help kids to be perfect one, but if applied in a wrong way, it will do harm. You need to have a consistent discipline plan and make sure all other adults around your family understands and follow it.

As you can see, there are a lot of things to keep in mind while parenting to ensure your children have the best future they can. Apply these tips in your child’s life so that they can grow to have the best opportunities in their future lives as you can give them.
