There’s something about this time of year that always makes me want to slow down a little and enjoy more family movie nights together. Between the excitement of summer break getting closer, later bedtimes, and finally having a little more downtime after busy school schedules, I’m always excited to see what new family shows and movies coming to Netflix will make our summer watch list.
And honestly, Netflix is bringing some REALLY fun additions this season.
From the return of Avatar The Last Airbender to nostalgic family favorites like Stuart Little and The Karate Kid, the Netflix Kids & Family lineup is packed with something for every age. Whether your kids love action-packed adventures, preschool favorites, anime, or cozy movie nights together on the couch, there’s a lot to look forward to.
We’re already adding several of these family movies on Netflix to our summer watch list, and I have a feeling some of these are going to become our go-to picks during summer break.
Here’s everything new on Netflix for Kids & Families that we’re excited to stream this summer.
Avatar The Last Airbender Returns With Season 2
Probably the biggest release families are talking about right now is the return of Avatar The Last Airbender — and if your family loved Season 1 as much as ours did, this next chapter looks even bigger.
Aang, Katara, and Sokka are back as the journey continues, and this season introduces one of the most loved characters from the original animated series: Toph, the blind earthbender fans have been waiting to see in live-action form.
This new season promises more emotional moments, bigger action scenes, and even higher stakes as Aang works to master earthbending while trying to restore balance to a world threatened by the Fire Nation.
Honestly, this feels like the PERFECT summer binge-watch series for tweens, teens, and parents who grew up loving the animated version too. If your kids haven’t watched Season 1 yet, now is definitely the time to catch up before the new episodes arrive.
And if your family is anything like ours, this is also the perfect excuse to revisit the animated series again because it somehow never gets old.
KPop Demon Hunters Is Still Going Strong
One of the most unexpected family favorites this past year has definitely been KPop Demon Hunters. Between the music, animation, characters, and catchy songs, it quickly became one of those movies kids keep replaying over and over again.
Now, fans are celebrating the film’s anniversary with sing-along watch parties, movie nights, and exciting news about an upcoming live concert experience inspired by the movie.
Honestly, this sounds SO fun for families with older kids and tweens who are obsessed with music, dance, and animated adventures. I can already picture this becoming one of those ultimate summer sleepover movie night picks.
And if your kids still know every word to the soundtrack, you are definitely not alone.

Family Movie Favorites Coming to Netflix
One thing I love about this lineup is how many nostalgic family movies are coming back to Netflix. There’s a really good mix of classics parents grew up watching and fun movies kids can now discover for the first time.
Some of the biggest family favorites arriving staring 6/15/26 include:
- Stuart Little
- The Smurfs
- Scooby-Doo
- The Karate Kid trilogy
- Percy Jackson & the Olympians
- Rookie of the Year
- Miracle
- Rudy
I already know movies like The Karate Kid and Percy Jackson are going to be huge summer rewatch picks in our house. There’s just something about family adventure movies during summer break that feels extra cozy and nostalgic.
These family movies on Netflix are also perfect for rainy summer afternoons, family movie marathons, or even downloading before a trip while packing your travel essentials for families with kids. — and honestly, they’re exactly the kind of family shows and movies coming to Netflix that make summer break feel extra cozy and fun.
New Preschool Favorites Families Will Love
If you have younger kids at home, Netflix is also adding several preschool favorites that are perfect for summer mornings and quiet downtime throughout the day.
Some of the newest additions include:
- Sesame Street: Volume 3 – Avail. 6/8/26
- Little Angel: Volume 8 – Avail. 6/27/26
- Bebefinn: Season 4 Part 2 – Avail. 6/29/26
Honestly, preschool content becomes a lifesaver during summer break when younger kids wake up super early while everyone else is still exhausted from summer activities.
Sesame Street especially continues to be one of those timeless shows that somehow keeps both learning and entertainment balanced so well, which is exactly why it remains one of the most loved family shows and movies coming to Netflix for younger kids and families.

Anime & Teen Favorites Are Also Expanding
Netflix is also continuing to expand its anime and teen lineup with several fan-favorite additions families with older kids and teens will probably be excited about. Honestly, these are exactly the kinds of family shows and movies coming to Netflix that make it easier to find something everyone in the house actually wants to watch together.
New additions include:
- One Piece
- My Hero Academia
- Shangri-La Frontier
- Assassination Classroom
Anime continues to grow SO much with tweens and teens right now, and honestly, it’s become one of the biggest genres families stream together.

Why This Netflix Lineup Feels Perfect for Summer
What I really love about this lineup is how well it fits the start of summer break. There’s a little bit of everything — action, nostalgia, preschool favorites, anime, family comedy, and feel-good movie nights.
As the school year winds down, I’m always looking for simple ways to create fun memories at home without needing complicated plans every single day. Sometimes the best summer moments are honestly the simplest ones: popcorn, blankets, snacks, and finding a new favorite series together — especially when we’re looking for easy indoor activities for kids this summer. That’s why I always get excited to see the latest family shows and movies coming to Netflix this time of year.
And with so many family-friendly options arriving on Netflix, it definitely looks like our summer watch list is already filling up fast.
If you’re planning family movie nights or searching for new shows to stream with the kids this summer, this lineup is absolutely worth checking out.
