The best way to keep your hair healthy is to follow a solid hair care routine. However, things
can quite easily go awry. Harsh weather, the effects of keeping your home cozy in winter,
styling, stress… they can all take their toll on your locks. So what can you do if your hair does
get frayed and damaged? I’m going to help you get your hair back to its best with these tips.

1. Get into a routine with the right products

You might have fallen out of your hair care routine because of life. You know, a lot of work,
getting the kids back to school… the daily grind. So now’s the time not only for a little TLC
but to get back on top of a healthy regime. And using the right products is the starting point
to repair damaged hair.
Your hair needs strengthening, and products that contain keratin can do a top job. They’re
great for your regular routine, but when your locks are stressed using a shampoo and
conditioner that contain this type of protein can really help the repair process. For more info

2. Lay off the heat

Avoiding the excessive use of heat is always a good idea when it comes to hair health, but especially now. All that the heat is going to do is stress your hair further, so avoid hot styling tools and hairdryers if you can, and turn the temperature down on the shower. Speaking of which, when you wash your hair it’ll really benefit from using lukewarm water instead of hot, and a cool rinse is a great way to finish.

 3. Pamper your hair with deep conditioning

It’s highly likely that your hair is crying out for moisture when it’s been damaged, and one of the best ways to get that moisture in is with a weekly deep conditioning treatment. Follow the instructions at all times, but as a general rule, you’ll want to work the conditioner in and let it do its magic for five minutes or so.

4. Dry lightly

I’ve already talked about avoiding excessive heat from the hairdryer, so toweling might be the best option. But it’s really not a good idea to rub at your locks after washing. Pat gently or wrap it up. Better still, allow the hair to dry naturally, as much as you can. That’ll help take away the risk of further breakage from friction.

5. Style softly

Finally, go easy on the heavy styling for now. And if you are going to use any heat, prep your hair with a heat protectant spray. It’s best to stick to the ‘au natural‘ look as much as you can. That means limiting the amount of product you use and avoiding tight tied back styles. Keep things light and loose for now.

Follow the above steps and your hair will be back to its glossy best in no time. And once you’ve done that, implement some of these tips into your weekly hair care routine to help keep it that way.
