Great Wolf Lodge is known for its water park… but honestly, some of our favorite moments happened before we even got in the water.
From the second we checked in, there was already so much going on. We picked up our Wolf Pass, started exploring, and suddenly we were walking into Build-A-Bear, planning our MagiQuest adventure, and figuring out what to do next.
And the best part?
👉 We hadn’t even changed into swimsuits yet 😂
Great Wolf Lodge is one of the most popular indoor water park resorts for families, but what many people don’t realize is how many activities are available beyond the water park.
If you’re planning a trip, just know this — there are so many things to do at Great Wolf Lodge beyond the water park (and even things to do at Great Wolf Lodge besides the water park), and it can easily fill your entire stay.
✨ What Can You Do at Great Wolf Lodge Besides the Water Park?
There are plenty of things to do at Great Wolf Lodge besides the water park, including free daily activities like dance parties, crafts, and character meet-and-greets, as well as paid experiences like MagiQuest, Build-A-Bear, mini golf, bowling, and more — many of which can be bundled with activity passes like the Wolf Pass.

🐾 It Feels Like More Than Just a Hotel
This was one of my favorite things about the whole experience.
It never felt like we were just “staying somewhere.”
There was always something happening — music in the lobby, kids dancing, families heading to the next activity.
👉 It felt like a full experience from start to finish.

🎟️ Great Wolf Lodge Activity Passes (What You Need to Know)
If you’re planning ahead, you’ll definitely come across the activity passes — and this is where things can feel a little confusing at first.
Here’s a simple breakdown of the main options:

🐺 Wolf Pass (Best Value – our pick)
The Wolf Pass typically includes multiple attractions like MagiQuest, mini golf, bowling, arcade games, and even treats like candy and ice cream depending on the location.
✔️ MagiQuest
✔️ Build-A-Bear Workshop 🧸
✔️ Mini golf ⛳
✔️ Bowling 🎳
✔️ Mining experience ⛏️
✔️ Arcade credits 🎮
💛 This kept us busy for HOURS and made everything feel seamless.
🐾 Paw Pass (Mid-level option)
✔️ MagiQuest
✔️ Select activities
✔️ Arcade credits
👉 A great middle-ground if you don’t want everything.

🐶 Pup Pass (Perfect for Younger Kids)
✔️ Build-A-Bear plush 🧸
✔️ Candy cup 🍭
✔️ Ice cream 🍦
✔️ Arcade credits 🎮
💛 A fun and simple option for younger kids or shorter stays.
🎯 Which Pass Should You Choose?
If you’re trying to decide between the different passes, here’s the easiest way to think about it:
🐺 Choose the Wolf Pass if:
- You want to do everything
- You’re staying more than one night
- Your kids want to try all the activities
👉 This is what we chose — and it honestly felt totally worth it.
🐾 Choose the Paw Pass if:
- You want a balance of activities
- You’re working with a mid-range budget
🐶 Choose the Pup Pass if:
- You have younger kids
- You’re staying for a shorter trip
- You want a few fun extras without committing to everything
💛 Our take:
If your kids are excited about doing all the things, the Wolf Pass is the best value.
🎮 MagiQuest (A MUST-DO Experience)
If there’s one thing I would recommend to every family — it’s MagiQuest.
This interactive adventure turns the entire lodge into a game.
✔️ Kids use a wand to complete missions
✔️ You explore different areas of the lodge
✔️ It can be played throughout your stay
💛 This was easily one of our favorite parts.
🧸 Build-A-Bear Workshop (A Core Memory Moment)
This was one of those moments that just sticks with you 🥹
Picking out a plush, stuffing it, and bringing it to life felt extra special — especially during a family trip.
👉 And if you’re using the Wolf Pass, it’s already included.

🎳 So Much to Do (Without Feeling Rushed)
Even after doing all the activities included in our Wolf Pass, it never felt like we had to rush from one thing to the next.
There are truly so many things to do at Great Wolf Lodge beyond the water park, and what I really loved is how everything is set up so you can move at your own pace.
One minute we were playing a game, the next we were grabbing a treat, and then heading into something completely different.
There’s a really nice mix of:
- high-energy activities
- slower, more relaxed moments
- and those little in-between experiences that make it all feel special
👉 It’s the kind of place where you can stay busy all day — or slow it down and just enjoy each moment.
💡 How to Get the Most Value Out of Great Wolf Lodge
If you’re planning a trip, a little strategy goes a long way — especially since there’s so much to do.
One of the best decisions we made was getting the Wolf Pass early. It gave us the flexibility to spread out activities instead of rushing through everything.
We also started with MagiQuest, which helped us explore the entire lodge right away and kept the kids engaged throughout our stay.
Another tip is to mix free and paid activities throughout the day. You can do something like mini golf or MagiQuest, then take a break with a dance party, bingo, or a character meet-and-greet.
And don’t skip the evening events — the dance parties and story times ended up being some of the most fun and memorable parts of our trip.
💛 Mom tip: You don’t have to do everything in one day. Let the kids enjoy each experience — that’s what makes it memorable.
💰 Is Great Wolf Lodge Worth It for Families?
If you’re wondering whether Great Wolf Lodge is worth it without the water park, the answer is yes.
Between the free daily activities, interactive experiences, and activity passes, it really feels like an all-in-one family getaway.
💛 A Few Things to Know Before You Go
If you’re planning your first trip to Great Wolf Lodge, there are a few things that really stood out to us.
First, there is so much more to do than just the water park. Between the daily activities like dance parties, story time, and character meet-and-greets, plus experiences like MagiQuest and Build-A-Bear, it honestly feels like a full itinerary without needing to leave the resort.
Another thing to keep in mind is how helpful the activity passes can be. If your kids are excited to try everything, the Wolf Pass is definitely the best value and makes the whole experience feel easier and more organized. But if you’re visiting for a shorter stay or have younger kids, even the smaller options like the Pup Pass still add a fun extra layer without overcommitting. There are honestly so many things to do at Great Wolf Lodge beyond the water park that it completely changes how you experience your stay.
And finally, don’t feel like you have to do everything in one day. Some of our favorite moments came from slowing down, letting the kids explore, and just enjoying the experience together.
💛 At the end of the day, it’s not just about the water park — it’s all the little moments in between that really make the trip special.
