(Updated for 2026)
Important Update:
The Cartoon Network Hotel in Lancaster, PA officially closed on January 1, 2026 and is being reimagined as the all-new Dutch Wonderland Inn, expected to open in late March 2026 with expanded family-friendly amenities, dining, and entertainment right next to Dutch Wonderland.
If you’re anything like me, planning a family getaway means finding fun for the kids and comfort for the grown-ups.
That’s exactly what we experienced at the Cartoon Network Hotel in Lancaster, PA, a one-of-a-kind themed family resort.
Although the hotel no longer operates under the Cartoon Network brand, this post shares what made it special.
It also helps you plan future family trips around Dutch Wonderland and Lancaster.
Why We Fell in Love with This Cartoon-Inspired Hotel
From the moment we stepped into the bright, character-filled lobby, we knew this place was not your average hotel. It was actually the world’s first Cartoon Network Hotel, and yes — it was just as awesome as it sounds!
We stayed in one of the amazing themed rooms. And let me tell you! it felt like stepping right into a cartoon. Our kids couldn’t stop smiling! Every room was colorful, creative, and filled with characters from beloved shows like Adventure Time, The Powerpuff Girls, Ben 10, and We Bare Bears

Family Fun Around Every Corner
What stood out most to us was how family-centered the hotel was. With over 150 guest rooms, an arcade, indoor and outdoor pools, and a splash pad, there was always something exciting for kids of all ages to do — even beyond the themed rooms.
Some family-friendly highlights from our stay included:
- A vibrant on-site arcade with games for all ages
- Indoor and outdoor pool areas with splash features
- A full-service restaurant that paired comfort food with creative cartoon flair
- Cozy, colorful themed rooms perfect for family photos
While you can no longer book this exact experience, these elements represent what families loved about this stay — and much of that playful spirit is expected to continue with the new Dutch Wonderland Inn opening in 2026.

Steps Away from Dutch Wonderland & More Attractions
One of the biggest perks of this hotel was its location right next to Dutch Wonderland — “A Kingdom for Kids” theme park, making our family trip seamless and joyful. Dutch Wonderland features more than 30 rides, water attractions, and entertainment designed specifically for younger kids — something our family still loves to revisit.
Other nearby attractions we loved:
- Tanger Outlets Lancaster (perfect for some mom-time shopping!)
- Golden Corral (so. much. food.)
- The Amish Village and Sight & Sound Theatre

Why You Should Add This Hotel to Your Family Bucket List
As a mom and family travel blogger, I’ve visited lots of hotels — but the Cartoon Network Hotel genuinely stood out for its unique theme, unmatched kid-centric focus, and unbeatable location.
Even though the property now closed its doors under this name, the memories we made there are still some of our favorite travel moments. And the upcoming Dutch Wonderland Inn shows promise to extend that magic with its own take on family fun and stay-and-play experiences.

What’s Next: Dutch Wonderland Inn (Opening Late March 2026)
While you can no longer book the Cartoon Network Hotel, there’s exciting news for families planning a Lancaster getaway! The property is currently being transformed into the Dutch Wonderland Inn — a fresh, family-focused hotel that will offer:
- New themed dining and restaurant options
- Expanded arcades and indoor entertainment
- Indoor and outdoor pool areas (including splash zones)
- Updated rooms designed around a family adventure theme
- Character visits from beloved Dutch Wonderland figures like Duke the Dragon and Princess Brooke
Whether you’re planning a birthday trip, holiday escape, or weekend adventure, the Dutch Wonderland Inn will be a fantastic home base for families visiting the area.
A Stay Our Family Will Always Remember
Even though the Cartoon Network Hotel chapter has closed, the spirit of family fun lives on in Lancaster. From the hotel’s iconic character moments to the laughter echoing through arcade halls and poolside splashes, this experience reminded our family why themed stays — especially near parks like Dutch Wonderland — make the best memories.
