There is something about collectible toys for kids that they just can’t resist. Whether it’s the excitement of opening a mystery bag, finding a new character to add to a collection, or discovering tiny toys and miniature accessories that make pretend play even more fun, collectibles have definitely come a long way.
And honestly, I understand the excitement too. We’ve opened quite a few collectibles over the years, and I still love seeing which character is hiding inside a mystery package.
What I especially like about many of the newer collectible toys for kids is that they go beyond simply collecting. Some encourage imaginative play, others turn collecting into a game, and some are just so cute that kids immediately want to find the rest of the collection.
If your child loves mini toys, surprise toys, tiny dolls, or adorable plush characters, here are some of the newer collectibles we’ve been checking out lately.
Littlest Pet Shop Pet Pairs
Littlest Pet Shop is one of those toy collections that has been around for years, but I love seeing how the collection continues to evolve.
We checked out the Littlest Pet Shop Pet Pairs Series 5, which combines two collectible pets with four surprises.
Part of the fun with Littlest Pet Shop has always been discovering different pets and building your own little collection. The characters have their signature oversized eyes and colorful designs, and there are plenty of different pets for kids to look for.
I also like that these aren’t toys kids necessarily open once and forget about. Once they’re out of the package, they can become part of pretend play with other Littlest Pet Shop characters they may already have.
For kids who love animals and small collectible figures, Littlest Pet Shop is an easy addition to our list of favorite collectible toys for kids, especially because there’s plenty of opportunity to keep building their collection.
Best for: Kids who love animals, collecting characters, and imaginative play.
Honey Bee Acres Mystery Bags
If your child loves the surprise of not knowing exactly which character they’re getting, Honey Bee Acres Mystery Bags bring back that classic blind-bag excitement.
Each mystery bag contains one surprise figure, and there are nine different characters to collect.
One thing that immediately caught my attention was the flocked texture. These tiny animal characters have such a sweet look, and their little outfits add even more personality.
We opened ours to discover some adorable characters, and of course, opening one immediately makes you curious about which one you’d find next. That’s part of what makes collectible toys for kids like these so much fun.
Honey Bee Acres is also great for small-world and imaginative play. Kids can create families, stories and little adventures with the characters rather than simply displaying their collection.
Best for: Kids who love mystery bags, tiny animals and creating their own stories.

Haven Mini Baby Dolls
Okay, these might be some of the tiniest baby dolls we’ve ever opened.
Haven is a new collection of approximately 2-inch baby dolls with miniature accessories, and the tiny details are what immediately got my attention.
We received two Haven sets to check out. One of our babies came with a miniature shopping cart, while the other came with a tiny playpen. Even at such a small size, the dolls have fabric clothing details that make them feel extra cute.
Unlike a traditional blind bag, you can see the Haven baby and accessory you’re getting before opening the package. I actually like having that option in a collectible toy because not every child enjoys getting duplicates or leaving everything up to chance.
Kids can choose their favorites and then build their Haven collection with additional babies and accessories.
The miniature size also makes these easy to bring along for play on the go. Just keep in mind that these contain small pieces and are marked for ages 3 and older.
If your child is fascinated by tiny dolls and miniature accessories, I can see Haven becoming one of those collections where one baby quickly turns into several.
Best for: Kids who love baby dolls, miniature toys and pretend play.

Crazy Aaron’s Pinchies Pet Parade
This one surprised me because it combines collectible characters with something completely different — a fidget game.
The Crazy Aaron’s Pinchies Pet Parade set includes three Pinchies characters and a game board. The little characters are designed to be squeezed and pinched, creating a clickity sound as kids play.
So instead of simply collecting the characters, kids can actually use them as part of the game.
I like this concept because it gives the collectibles another purpose. Kids still get the fun of discovering and collecting cute characters, but there’s an interactive element that makes them feel different from traditional mini figures.
The Pet Parade characters have adorable animal designs, making this a fun option for kids who already gravitate toward cute animal collectibles.
Best for: Kids who enjoy fidget toys, games and collectible characters.
Spreading Cappiness Capybara Plush
Capybaras seem to be everywhere lately, and I have to admit these made me smile immediately.
The Spreading Cappiness collection takes the capybara trend and turns it into a group of adorable plush characters.
We got to check out several of them, and each has its own fun look and personality. Some even have cute food-inspired details, which makes choosing a favorite surprisingly difficult.
What makes these work well alongside the smaller collectibles on this list is that kids can choose their favorite or collect multiple characters. And because they’re plush, they bring something completely different to the collection. They can sit on a bed, shelf or desk and easily become part of a child’s room.
They would also make such a cute little gift for kids who are currently obsessed with capybaras.

Best for: Capybara fans and kids who love cute collectible plush.
Why Are Collectible Toys So Popular With Kids?
I think part of the appeal of collectible toys for kids is simply the excitement of building a collection over time.
One toy becomes two, then kids start looking for a favorite character or the one they’re still missing. Mystery toys add another layer because you don’t necessarily know what you’re getting until you open them.
But I also prefer collectibles that give kids something to do after the excitement of opening the package is over.
That’s one reason several of these stood out to me.
Haven encourages pretend play with its babies and accessories. Honey Bee Acres characters can become part of little imaginary worlds. Littlest Pet Shop pets can be mixed with an existing collection. Pinchies turns the characters into part of a game.
For me, that extra play value makes a difference.
What Should Parents Look for When Buying Collectible Toys?
With so many collectible toys for kids available, I don’t think you necessarily need to buy an entire collection.
I usually look at whether my child will actually play with the toy after opening it.
Age recommendations are also important, especially with mini collectibles. Many of these toys contain very small pieces, so they’re not appropriate for younger children who may still put toys in their mouths.
It also helps to think about what your child already enjoys. A child who loves dolls may be much more excited about Haven, while an animal lover might immediately gravitate toward Littlest Pet Shop or Honey Bee Acres.
And if they’re currently in their capybara era? Well… I think we already know which collection they’re going to choose.
Are Collectible Toys Good Gift Ideas?
Absolutely! Collectible toys for kids can make great gifts, especially when you already know what the child enjoys collecting.
Smaller collectibles can make easy birthday gifts, rewards, travel surprises and stocking stuffers. They’re also useful when you’re looking for a smaller gift to pair with something else.
I particularly like them when there’s room to build on the gift later. You can start with one character or set and add another for a birthday, holiday or special occasion.
Just remember that with mystery toys, duplicates are always possible. If that’s something your child finds frustrating, a visible collectible like Haven or another toy where you can choose the character may be a better option.
Which Collectible Toy Would Your Child Pick?
The world of collectible toys has definitely expanded beyond traditional blind bags.
Kids can now collect everything from tiny baby dolls and flocked animal figures to fidget characters and adorable plush capybaras. And I think that’s part of what makes collecting so much fun — there really is something for every type of kid.
Out of all of these, I love that each collection offers a slightly different experience rather than simply giving kids another toy to open.
Whether your child loves the surprise of a mystery bag, enjoys creating little imaginary worlds, or simply can’t resist an adorable mini character, these collectible toys for kids are fun ones to keep on your radar.
Now I want to know: Which one would your child want to collect first?
