In a little more than a week, the kids will be getting ready to celebrate their scariest day of the year. But, before that on October 26th, there is another day to celebrate, too. It’s National Pumpkin Day, and I know how many of you guys have been waiting for this tasty day. I have put together these 5 Great Ways To Celebrate this Pumpkin season.
National Pumpkin Day and 5 Great Ways To Celebrate Pumpkin Season
National Pumpkin Day recognizes a favored autumn decoration and food on October 26th. Not only do they make great fall decorations, but the pumpkin also completes a variety of tasty recipes.*
Pumpkins are packed with nutrients, but they’re not only good for humans. Did you know that pumpkin may be recommended by veterinarians as a dietary supplement for dogs and cats?*
This is the week to get the pumpkins carved and the yard decorated, enjoy the weather, and get prepared for the children that will be coming seeking their Halloween treats (even though this year will be a very different one).
1. Visit a pumpkin patch.
Pumpkin patches are places the kids love! The entire family will have a great time during this visit. Many pumpkin patch locations will have activities for the whole family, plus you’ll be supporting a local business.
2. A Taste Of Fall
Head over to your favorite coffee shop, cafe or retailer to get your Pumpkin spice hot coffee, pumpkin spice latte, and pumpkin spice muffins. Most of the local businesses will be offering discounts and freebies on pumpkin-related products.
3. Perfect Time To Bake.
Let’s make something with pumpkin whether this is a pie, a loaf of pumpkin bread, cookies, soup, or some other sort of dish, cooking or baking is a great way to make the most of National Pumpkin Day. Yum!
We went head on with the Pumpkin Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting for the first time. Since these cupcakes are made with the help of a cake mix, they are very simple!
2 Steps Cupcakes
- MIX. Combine the cake mix (plus ingredients in the back of the box and half the water), and pumpkin puree. Add Pumpkin spice, vanilla, cinnamon or Almond extract (all optional to your taste) and mix well.
- BAKE. Pour the pumpkin cupcake batter into liners in muffin tins and bake for 17-20 minutes. Once they come out of the oven, let cool before adding your frosting.
Easiest Cream Cheese Frosting And Decoration
This frosting is super easy to do, in fact it only takes 5 ingredients and 5 minutes to get it done!
- 8 oz cream cheese softened
- 1/4 cup butter softened
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- Orange food coloring (optional)
Start with room temperature butter and Cream cheese. All you have to do is combine the ingredients and beat until smooth. I add ed 4 or 5 drop of orange food coloring to give the frosting a little life.
Since I don’t have an icing piping bag I used a Ziploc bag to put the frosting in and cut the tip off with scissors (less for fine swirls, more for thick swirls).
I then decorated these pumpkin cupcakes with the delicious Voortman Bakery Limited Edition Pumpkin Spice wafers and golden sprinkles.
Voortman Bakery wafers are baked with real pumpkin. Made with no artificial colors or flavors AND no high-fructose corn syrup.
4. Make jack o’ lanterns.
Since you have already visited the Pumpkin patches I bet you got some great pumpkins to decorate. The kids will also love this one! Time to carve the perfect family Jack O’Lanter.
5. Shop, Shop, Shop
Shop for Pumpkin Spice scents and beauty products. Many retailers are offering during this entire season a variety of home pumpkin scents, including body creams, soaps, and candles. It will be ideal to have any before this day.
You can learn more about Voortman Bakery by visiting the company’s website online. You can find these products at: Walmart, Target, Stop N Shop, Key Foods, Shoprite, And more retailers across the country.
